Do communcations in your firm remind you of the childhood game of telephone?  A message that seemed clear at the outset, comes back to you garbled and almost beyond recognition.

Experts estimate that we comprehend less than 10% of the meaning directed at us in verbal communication.  We only remember slightly more of what we read.  However, with reading, your interpretation may not be what the author intended.

Add to this mix our global world and team approach to work and you can see why communications is most everyone's #1 headache.

Snapshots of successful puzzle-solving

Client Puzzle:
Division of a large chemical company needed to speed up the implementation of a new business strategy.
Respect Inc. Solution:
Developed and conducted a work environment study to identify the underlying issues helping and hindering the new strategy. After analysis, Respect recommended ways to improve communications, increase the capabilities and enthusiasm of employees, and sensitively respond to a key leadership deficiency.
Client Puzzle:
Large chemical company needed to improve communications and supervisory action to ensure an environment free of harassment.
Respect Inc. Solution:
Working with a multi-departmental team, designed a solution that included education for both employees and managers considering the unique needs and perspectives of both groups. Wrote and produced video for the employee education. Anchored the education in company traditions and core values of which employees are very proud. Curriculum trained employees to handle problems through respectful feedback, so there is maximum opportunity to preserve working relationships. Trained managers to understand their style of interaction, and its impact on subordinates.

Developed and conducted facilitator training as a cost effective method for delivering the education to thousands of personnel.

Client Puzzle:
A long-term care facility needed the communication and leadership skills to respond to an industry-wide culture change that emphasizes person-centered care.
Respect Inc. Solution:
Focused on having all employees see themselves as leaders who can take action and make a difference – managers, administrators, nurses, CNA’s, maintenance workers, and kitchen staff – everyone. Used behavior style and listening assessments so each person could understand how they tend to communicate with others, and how to flex their style and listening approach to match the situation and colleague with whom they are working. Used a leadership assessment to identify individual leadership skills and instill a leadership mentality.
